Bulky waste collection can be broad by definition and can therefore encompass a number of items. Often many people will take a bulky item that requires at least two people to move the item around. However, as clearly individual strength and abilities to move items will vary, this isn't really a way to define bulky waste as in some instances the same items moved by two people can be a bit of a struggle for one person but it can still be moved. The weight of an item doesn't really come into the definition either although clearly a small heavy item may well require more than one person to move it.
Our bulky waste services can operate both on a full collection basis where you may not be in a position to even move the item from its current location to the front of your house. In these circumstances, we will typically send a couple of our team to assist in taking the item from your room and loading it straight onto our van.
Where you are able to move the items out of your house you can leave them at the front of your house for us to collect, which makes things easy for both parties. You have no requirement to be present at the point of collection and this means from our perspective we have more flexibility on collection times.

Payment is taken once all items have been removed from your property, either by card or bank transfer. We don't require anything upfront — you only pay once the collection is complete and you're happy everything's been taken as agreed.

Yes — fridges, freezers, washing machines, cookers and other large appliances are all collected as standard. Fridges and freezers need particular care, since the refrigerant gas inside — CFCs in older units, HFCs or hydrocarbons in newer ones — has to be handled and disposed of correctly. Why choose bulky item collection over a skip?
A skip on a public road needs a council permit (Cardiff Council charges £44 for 7 days or £88 for 28 days), plus the wait for it to be issued — and you still have to lift everything into it yourself.
