Barry House Clearance

Clearing Homes Across Barry

We’re a Cardiff-based team and Barry is part of our normal patch — not a subcontractor, the same team and vans you’d get on a Cardiff job. Barry’s housing runs from the Victorian and Edwardian terraces around the town centre and Cadoxton, through the 1930s semis and post-war estates further out, to the newer flats and houses on the Waterfront, and each brings its own practicalities: narrow terraced hallways where furniture has to be taken apart to come out, upstairs flats with shared stairwells, and parking that can be tight on the older terraced streets.

Most of our Barry work starts with a photo. Tell us what’s going, which floor it’s on and where a van can stop, and we’ll quote properly before anything is booked. On the day we load, sweep through and leave the property ready for whatever comes next — a sale, a re-let or a family moving in.

Vale of Glamorgan Council Options vs a Private Clearance

Barry sits in the Vale of Glamorgan, so the council options are the Vale’s rather than Cardiff’s, and they’re worth knowing before you book anyone.

Bulky item collection

The Vale collects up to five bulky items per booking — £31 for the first three and £5.75 for each extra one — from the kerb, put out by 7am on the day. It won’t take doors, kitchen cabinets or worktops, sheds, fencing, radiators, loose carpet tiles, plumbing fixtures or building waste, and items can’t be added once you’ve booked.

Recycling centres

The Barry recycling centre at Atlantic Trading Estate (CF63 3RF) and the Llandow centre are appointment-only, and you show your booking and proof of address on arrival. Taking a van or a trailer needs a £20 permit, limits the household to one visit a month, and Luton and high-top vans aren’t allowed at all. Trade waste is refused.

Where a private clearance fits

For a handful of items you can carry to the kerb, the council service is good value. Once it’s a full room, a whole house, things the council won’t take, or anything that has to come down the stairs, a private clearance does it in one visit — we do the carrying, take every type of item together, and handle the reuse, recycling and disposal ourselves under our waste carrier registration.

Why Barry Customers Use Us

We’re registered waste carriers, and items go to charity or auction where they can, to recycling where they can’t, and to licensed disposal only as a last resort — never dumped. We work seven days a week from 7am to 9pm, so evening and weekend clearances are normal for us, and most jobs are quoted from a photo without a site visit.

Frequently Asked Questions — House Clearance Barry

Do you cover the whole of Barry?

Yes. We cover all of Barry — Barry Island and the Knap, Cadoxton, Gibbonsdown, Colcot, Palmerston, Castleland, the Waterfront and the estates on the edge of town — along with the surrounding Vale of Glamorgan. Call 029 2271 5222 or send us a photo for a same-day quote.

Can the Vale of Glamorgan Council not collect my bulky items?

It can collect a few. The council’s bulky collection takes up to five items per booking (£31 for three, then £5.75 each), collected from the kerb, and it won’t take doors, kitchen units, sheds, fencing, radiators, carpet tiles or building waste. If you have more than that, or the items are still inside the house, a private clearance is the quicker route.

Can I take my waste to the recycling centre myself?

If you’re a Vale resident with a car, yes — Barry’s recycling centre at Atlantic Trading Estate and the one at Llandow are open by appointment, with proof of address. A van or trailer needs a £20 permit and is limited to one visit a month, Luton vans aren’t accepted, and trade waste is turned away. For a full house, that usually means several trips; we do it in one.

How much does house clearance cost in Barry?

It depends on how much there is, how easy the property is to load from, and how much can go to charity or recycling rather than disposal. Send us a photo and we’ll give you an accurate, no-obligation price, usually without needing a site visit.

Can you clear a property after a bereavement, or a hoarded home?

Yes, both. A bereavement clearance goes at the family’s pace, with photographs, documents and keepsakes set aside rather than cleared. Hoarded homes are sorted methodically and without judgement, with the household deciding what stays.

How quickly can you get to a property in Barry?

We work seven days a week, 7am to 9pm, and can usually arrange a clearance within a day or two of your enquiry. Send a photo through and we’ll confirm a price and the next available slot straight away.

Do you cover the villages around Barry?

Yes — Rhoose, Sully, Dinas Powys, Wenvoe, St Athan, Llantwit Major and Cowbridge, as well as Penarth and Llandough. If you’re not sure about your address, ask and we’ll confirm.
