Why People Book Sofa Collection in Cardiff
Sofa collection is usually tied to something specific happening in the home. The most common reason is a new sofa or suite being delivered — many furniture retailers either won't take the old one away or charge extra for it, so we're often booked to collect it separately, before or after the new delivery. Other regular reasons include house moves and downsizing, landlord and rental turnovers where furniture has been left behind by a previous tenant, and simply replacing a sofa that's reached the end of its life. A lot of customers ask whether their old sofa can be donated instead — the answer depends on one specific label, covered below.

Sofa Reuse, Donation & Fire Safety Labels
A lot of people assume a sofa in good condition can simply be donated to charity — but UK law makes this more specific than it seems. Under the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations, upholstered furniture must carry a permanent fire safety label to be legally resold or reused, and charities and reuse organisations can't legally accept sofas without it, even ones in excellent condition. Older sofas, or those where the label has been removed or worn away, don't qualify — which is exactly why a lot of perfectly usable sofas still end up needing collection rather than donation. If your sofa still has its label attached, let us know when you enquire and we'll look at reuse options before anything else.

Frequently Asked Questions — Sofa Collection Cardiff
Do you collect sofas across Cardiff?
Yes — we collect sofas throughout Cardiff and the surrounding area, including Barry and Penarth. Two-seaters, corner sofas, armchairs and full suites are all collected as standard. Call 0292 2715222 or send us a photo for a same-day quote.
How much does sofa collection cost in Cardiff?
Cost depends on the size and number of items — a single armchair costs less than a full corner sofa suite. Send us a photo and we'll give you an accurate price, usually without needing a site visit. There's no obligation to book, and quotes are always free.
Can you collect my old sofa when a new one is being delivered?
Yes — this is one of the most common reasons we're called out. Many furniture retailers either won't take the old sofa away or charge extra for it, so we're often booked to collect it separately, before or after the new delivery.
Can my old sofa be donated instead of collected for disposal?
Sometimes, but only if it still has its original fire safety label attached. Under UK regulations, charities and reuse organisations can't legally accept upholstered furniture without this label, even if the sofa is in good condition — so a lot of perfectly usable sofas still need collecting rather than donating. If yours has the label and is in good condition, let us know and we can look at reuse options first.
Do you collect corner sofas and modular suites?
Yes — corner sofas and modular suites are collected as standard, though they may need to be split into sections to get them out of the property. Let us know the layout when you enquire so we can quote accurately.
What happens to a sofa once it's collected?
Where the fire safety label is present and the sofa is in good condition, we look at reuse options first. Where that's not possible, sofas are broken down for recycling wherever possible — wood frames, foam and metal springs are separated out rather than everything going straight to landfill.
How quickly can you collect a sofa?
We operate seven days a week, 7am to 9pm, and can often arrange collection within a day or two of your enquiry. Send a photo through and we'll confirm a price and the next available slot straight away.
Do you also collect other bulky items at the same time?
Yes — sofa collection is often booked alongside mattress collection, white goods removal or a wider bulky waste collection, and we're happy to quote for everything together in one visit. See our other collection pages for more detail, or just mention it when you get in touch.
