Cathays residents can book Cardiff Council’s bulky collection, but it’s capped at six items per booking, priced in steps from £15 up to £45 by quantity, and a £5 non-refundable fee is charged for booking. Forget something and you can’t add it after paying, and it won’t take bikes or small electricals, so a four-bedroom shared house at the end of term quickly outgrows it.
For Cathays, Bessemer Close is the closer of the city’s two household recycling centres. Each visit needs booking, you’ll be asked for your booking and evidence of where you live, only car-boot-sized loads go in, and a van or trailer is allowed once a month. Neither option works to a re-let deadline, which is where we come in.
